 Song writing
« Result #4 on Sept 18, 2009, 2:22pm »

There are many different ways of writing a song, and really, there is no right or wrong way to do it, but the key to a great song is that it has some thought behind it. Good lyrics, or lyrics that people can relate to are important, combined with a melody that has a good 'hook', and you're looking at a number 1 !! 8-)

If you start writing a song, try and finish it, don't leave it for days because you won't feel the same way emotionally. Your frame of mind can change quickly, so if you stop, and leave it a day or so...you could end up with a song that's disjointed or sounds like 2 people have written it. Keep the words flowing onto the paper, and eventually the right ones will come out.

For me, I prefer to get the music down first, then put the lyrics over the top, but do whatever you feel is right ! Try not to be influenced by other people, and talk from the heart, and you'll be on the right track.

Remember there are only 'so many' chords out there, and inevitably your subconscious will have heard a chord pattern and stored it, then when you come to write a song, you find that it's already been done that way.. But hey, what's to stop you changing the tempo !

Before you write a song, ask yourself "What do I want"? Do you want to be taken seriously, or do you want the songs to be fun, or a joke? There was a band who asked me to audition for them many years ago..They were very serious about their music, and accomplished players too, however, they started singing a song called "Bright Green Washing Machine". ;D Even now it makes me laugh..I couldn't take them seriously..made my excuses and left..

 NEW SONG WRITTEN FOR CHARITY
« Result #5 on Sept 18, 2009, 1:54pm »

"Give It Some Time" is the first song written by Airbag in over 10 years, and can be found on 'Now That's What I Call an Original CD' a compilation of original music by artists from around the local area.

Performed for the very first time, live, to a packed crowd at the Audco club in Newport, it's good old fashioned Rock n Roll but with a modern twist !

The new CD was on sale in order to raise funds for Severn Hospice, at the bargain price of £5, and over £230 was raised on the night from sales of the CD 8-)

Ed, Thanks very much for Friday night, it was greatly appreciated.

Can you pass this on to the drummer. And how can we ever forget the singer!

Dear George & Marie,

Thank you.

When your son Anthony told me the sad news about your daughter Jane passing away, I grieved for your loss.

So when I received the call for help in raising money for leukemia, I unequivocally offered our services.

God bless.
Adrian
